Pinky Promise
About
Charlotte McCade is halfway out the door when her husband gets a phone call that changes everything.
Danger McCade’s father is dead. The same father who walked out on him and his brothers years ago, leaving behind scars none of them care to revisit. But apparently, he left behind something else, too.
A five-year-old half-sister named Disney.
McCades don’t abandon blood, so Danger does what he’s always done: steps up. Disney needs a home, and he’ll give her one. Charlotte agrees to stay long enough to help his little sister settle in, even if it means putting her plans to leave their crumbling marriage on hold.
Danger and Charlotte are forced to face the truth they’ve spent two years avoiding. They didn’t stop loving each other when they lost their son, but somewhere in the grief, they stopped reaching for each other.
Now Danger has to navigate becoming an unexpected girl dad while dating his lonely, grief-stricken wife and learning that being steady isn’t the same as being present.
And while Disney might be the newest McCade, she may be exactly what this family never knew it needed.
Sometimes the hardest promise isn’t to stay. It’s to find your way back.
